Over the Frail Dream

Lately, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of people focusing on accuracy plays, myself included. mainly going for insane quads or high AAA's on really complex files. I think it’s particularly appealing that this skillset can be highly competitive without relying as heavily on raw physicality or speed compared to other aspects of the game.

I had also been waiting for the spectating update, but since I don't know when it will actually come, I started considering the idea of hosting a short and simple accuracy-focused tournament. (ODIpack/VGMP/Scintill type files), didn't really think about any of the details yet but maybe some sort of battle royale (lower score gets eliminated) type of thing could be cool.

Main point of this post is to know how much people would be interested in this sort of thing, so if you wanna play or would be interested in doing a custom file leave a comment.

If you are not interested just give your opinion of playing accuracy overall, it's practically the broadest skillset in the game and to me the one with the most potential to still be improved on in every facet of the game.

Accuracy in general is not the most interesting for me, but AAAs are fun to go for sometimes. I think FFR is partly to blame for it (it's a grind-or-suck game), but also the sheer difficulty of going higher than AAA on charts is immense. Setting a speedy AA on a file is usually easier, and practically never requires grinding. Doesn't help that only true AAAs/quads give me any satisfaction if i first want a good score

That and song-bias. Non-poly accuracy charts tend to be quite dull to listen to

Edit: Had to think for a while, as i had an unformed thought that kept bugging me. I think part of the reason acc is a bit "meh" for me, is that a majority of accuracy scores i see are from very basic chordjack charts; metronome charts if you will. Forum threads such as this one was far more interesting and engaging to look at (i ended up playing almost all the charts there).

i would be very interested in an accuracy tournament, especially with the packs you are suggesting. Battle royale mode sounds very cool too, not sure if that was pulled off before.
been having a blast with the new scoring attack event in Etterna, and I would love to participate more events like that
