oh yeah some of these gamemodes are fucked up btw
show me one 23 msd that can A rank all those 27s. or a 36 msd player that can AA calming patterns expert and intermediate sound reasonable for their msd ranges though |

While i already did a livestream where i completed the entire pack and gave feedback about what i'm feeling about some certain charts, i think it still worth writing this anyway. Wanna note that most of these thoughts will be written from my memory of playing it and sometimes just previewing it in Etterna. Oh, and also i completed the entire pack in one session, so my brain was kinda already frying past Stage 7, so i might be missing details about some certain charts.

I was very surprised to see a perfect score for this, as it leads more with charm than playability, but I'm happy that the charm wasn't overlooked 8) Also @lyko, while I disagree with your overall opinion on Valedumps 4, I will say I kinda agree that Tim showed off heavvyyyy on image. As a last minute sub it was a real treat to get. |

if i was being really picky i would probably give it a 6/7 since its a bit messy but i think playability wise its very good for a jackspeed dump; none of the jacks feel long enough that it turns into vibro nor are any of the transitions out of the jacks that awkward, and those are the two issues i usually see with jacks. really liking the song choice helps a lot too |

| started playing through stage 3 then went to go get food at 3-6 and didnt end up playing again WHOOPS i'll update this with 3-6 and 3-7 when i get to them ![]() (didnt play diablo/tristram in the same session as everything else but my score on it was trash anyway compared to my old AAA) [3-1] DIABLO - so i actually played this while playing through the first 2 stages but forgot to save the review. anyway this charts super offsync but thats to be expected from live music charted in 2005. chart itself is pretty fun to play though and definitely fits the packs atmosphere so 4/7 [3-2] Out of the Ashes (0.85x) - weird patterns but they feel really good to hit. the technically accurate bits near the start remind me of certain odi3 (maybe 2?) metal charts that i think do a similar thing with the repetitive minijack js. one nitpick i will say though is that i have the same issue with 1:41.707 that i have with a lot of parts in barbecue where i think stripping down the layering or focusing more on the drums would have been better here. the drums completely change rhythm and its more "jerky" than a constant flow, so i think the patterns reflecting that more in this part wouldve been nice. 5/7 [3-3] Gaspard de la Nuit. - I. Ondine - 7/7. really surprised someone not only restepped this but managed to do it even better. the minijack streams/minedodge in the first half give the first half way more tension than xay's chart, and the repetitive 12th-colored streams are a lot more interesting of a way to chart that section than the rolls in the other chart (though my hands wish the pattern was less left hand biased...). not only is charting this in general impressive but also being able to piece together the different sections together in a way that nothing feels like filler. the color theory usage was also pretty good as far as color theory goes; the blue jumps in the red stream at the end is something i haven't seen before. do agree with something zeta said though about the pure 12ths for that one stream section maybe being a bit much. i guess if i was being super picky i'd give this a 6/7 but im not since the rest of the charts as good as it is. glad this got rereleased [3-4] Georgia Camp Meeting - surprisingly really fun to acc. the 3 note jacks in the patterns at the end of each chorus(?) work really well. full accurate charting first felt a little bit weird for that one section with the holds+hands, but it transitions nicely into the swing section with the vocals, so it works. 6/7 (there u fuckers i finally gave one) [3-5] Afterlife (0.8x) - bend the sky is down the hall, to the left, and then up the stairs into the attic behind the cobwebs. jokes aside this really does feel like csenc's evanescence charts. really hard poly streams, trilly stuff in the choruses, etc. something particular to this chart that i really liked was the 24th jumpglut bursts. more charts need to do stuff like that. my only critique (and this is more of just personal taste than anything else) is that i think this chart is a bit too diverse with the patterns and it kind of feels like it loses identity from that. that's just me though, i don't think most people would agree. 5/7 for me but probably a 6/7 minimum for anyone else |

| I played game and have some opinions on my own pack that I packed up. I'll post the first 3 realms. Lofty Dump Minipack 2 (Invoked Under a Full Moon in 2016 Ed) Rankings (Lofty Rhino) Realm 1 [1-1] Festival of Ghost 2 - 10/10 Perfect pack opener. I judged the invocation files on how well they built the dark atmosphere for the pack. I can’t think of anything better than a creaky haunted house ahh door opening to get us started; not to mention, the file is baller for being 20+ years old. [1-2] Abracadabra - 9.5/10 A great follow up to the first track. The song choice is current and the patterns are absolutely phenomenal. The echoed patterns are innovative AND fit the music in an uncanny way. Couldn’t ask for more from this file. The only thing stopping this from being a 10/10 are some of the jack sections which take you out of the file – might have needed to be toned down just a tad. Other than that, amazing and fun as hell. [1-3] All Night Passion - 8/10 Banger latin freestyle song. Playing this right after abracadabra, I can see some interesting similarities in patterning if I squint. Quirky file with fun runningmen and “triangle patterns”. Lots of rainbow polys. This would be a higher rating if I was a bit more consistent with the minijacks in the verses. [1-4] Anagura Gurashi - 9/10 The only thing taking away from this file for me is the length. For some people this might be a perfect file. All of the material here is great. The steel drum sections especially are super fun to acc and the offset chorus patterns play smoothly but force the player to pay attention. Song choice is cool for weeby stuff. [1-5] Can’t Fight the Moonlight - 7/10 Very different approach to the Mina file – kinda why I accepted it. This file allows you to be able to enjoy the song without too much effort. Light and broken streams in the chorus and pretty ez low BPM 32nd dumpers in the verses, charted with a bit of nostalgic caveman patterning (this is, somehow, a compliment) nothing to really hate here. That being said, there’s nothing remarkable about it, it’s just a chill guy. [1-6] Barbecue - 8.5/10 Innovative file (for me) utilizes fakes and other tomfoolery to imitate igorrr’s eccentricities. Patterning is weird, but not too hard. I appreciate how the easy parts are still interesting due to the colorful and unconventional rhythms. I also really enjoy how the preview part turned out. It captures the intensity without being too hard and I felt proud of myself for being able to achieve that. That being said, as windoze said, this file is a bit harder in the beginning than in the ending. Could have made more decisions to address that. [1-7] Cities in Dust - 9/10 Cute file in the way I like my cute files. This felt like a good mina jack doot to me. The song is a banger, and I really like how the jack into trill transition came out in this file. As a whole, Cities in Dust knows what it is about and mainly gives you just that (with only a little fluff in between). My only complaint is I wish I would’ve charted a bit more of it. |

| Realm 2 [2-1] Lavender Town - 8/10 Super low MSD file. That being said, it still brings a little flair to the table with some apt color theory. The direction is very clear here and there isn’t much to be said due to the nature of the file. This is an original file, not an already existing chart. I asked cosmovibe to chart it specifically for this pack and it definitely continues to maintain the creepy/dark atmosphere the title promises. Not many people are playing 3-4 MSD shit these days, so it doesn’t have a lot of appeal, however, it’s fun to acc on 3x rate (: [2-2] Image -8.5/10 Baller and modern song, aesthetic fake usage that actually has a dual function of giving breaks for the player, playful patterning in the choruses and verses. I was really happy to get this as a last minute sub to the pack. For a file that is well over 3 minutes, it doesn’t feel like it's overstaying its welcome at all and builds off of repeated ideas in interesting ways. Nice for scoring, too. [2-3] Maldito Amor - 9/10 If the chorus was isolated, this would be an easy 10/10 for me. The chorus patterning is so damn good and memorable. Whether you're smacking the keyboard with those alternating-hand jumpjacks or trying your best to squeeze out those OH trills, you just find yourself having a ton of fun with this song. The verses are also good, but I like the approach to the first verse better than the second which felt harder. The chorus already requires a ton of attention to hit correctly so I liked the idea of getting a mental (and physical) break. This may be only my experience though, idk. Also, song choice is 1999/10. [2-4] Peach’s Birthday Cake Sped Up - 7/10 DEE DOO DOODOODOO DEEDEE DOO <3 [2-5] Fuck Anime (Extended) - 8/10 I was super thrilled to be able to actually make this a full collab file. The original intention for Minty 2’s fuck anime was to have every verse charted and seeing it become a reality was awesome. Overall, it mainly stays in character with the original file, which was my goal. I didn’t want this to be a safe file. Unfortunately, there are a few safe sections here and there and/or sections that are too hard (harder than chorus) so scoring on this is a bit of a rollercoaster ride. Either way, it is enjoyable and interesting and the song choice returns the atmosphere to unsettling pretty damn quickly. [2-6] Atrax - 7.5/10 This is also a jack file that knows what it is about. That being said, the beginning is a little weird and the “chorus” is much easier than the rest of the file which really forces you to pay attention to those minijack/bursty patterns. This was originally a Minty 4 reject file. It was charted the same time that Pain Triangle was charted and Dour, James, and myself just happened to take the same approach on an Arabic song. Something, something, linguistics and charting? That being said, Atrax is definitely the weaker of the two files. [2-7] A Few Elements of Vocabulary - 7.5/10 Very cool song. I think the overall approach was also cool, but it does make for an experience that can be a bit frustrating for the player. Lots of spiky stuff right from the get-go forces the player to lock in with some near vibro speed trills and jacks. I love this as a boss file because its deceptive as fuck. That being said, in retrospect I don’t think the hard parts needed to be as hard as they were, or the easy parts as easy to get the same feeling across. |

| Realm 3 [3-1] Diablo - 9/10 I am a little biased here. I’ve always loved this file. I think it continues to lock down the tone for the pack and it's really fun to try to acc despite it being a little off sync. BTW, I didn’t resync any of the old files for posterity’s sake.Trying to go goku on grace notes always makes me happy and reminds me of my childhood. [3-2] Out of the Ashes - 9.5/10 My best file in the pack (probably). The verses are fun, the bridges are fun, the choruses are fun, the guitar solos are fun. There is almost nothing I would change about this file and the cd this comes off of is one of my favorites in my whole cd collection. I made a good file for one of my favorite power metal tracks. Nothing more to be said here. [3-3] Gaspard de la Nuit - 10/10 The best file in the pack (probably). This is actually a masterpiece. When you play this file you feel like you are not only playing this piece on an instrument, but also experiencing what it would feel like to live in its world. Super intentional patterning, sync choices, color theory – the list goes on. If you want an acc challenge, this is a file for you. If you want to just be able to play something special, this is also for you. [3-4] Georgia Camp Meeting - 8/10 GGGGGGGGGGGWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ODI tech file vibes though – a little dumpy. [3-5] Afterlife - 8/10 Amazing song choice for the pack. If I just had the chorus to rate, I’d give it a 9/10, even with the jacks that are a little spiky. The patterning is just superb, and it is seeping with identity. Very memorable, and violently goes to the music. I think that the second verse is taking away from that identity a bit, and at times seems a little too wayward than it should be given how intentional and unforgiving the chorus is. I understand why the first verse is that way, given that it comes straight off of that melancholy opener, but the second one could’ve done more for me. [3-6] Leo137’s OP - 7.5/10 I tried my best to do some Leo stuff and some Leo stuff was done, although, maybe not as well as Leo would have done the Leo things. LOL slow chordjacks and 10/10 REGGAETON song with some fun tippy tappies. [3-7] RATATATA - 8.5/10 RELENTLESS file. I pushed it to the limit and got fucking owned. Some absolutely inexplicable patterning that somehow works makes this file feel weird and special. Also, that ending section and breakdown *drool emoji* Overall, this file is slay as hell but oh man you better hope you have some stamina because there’s very little opportunity for you to recover. A lot of obvious and not so obvious jack tension in this file builds on the song well, but player beware. |

thats funny, had no idea about this file coincidentally being made around the same time as pain triangle with similar patterning. there's also another file kind of like pain triangle in valedumps 4 (ymken) which is also Arabic; kind of funny how it's sort of a sub-genre of file now, like how tech n9ne music is all dumped a certain way in reference to the metzger files calling georgia camp ODIesque is crazy but i can kinda see it also i'd be doing more reviews for this pack but due to unexpected circumstances i just cant use my room for a few days so. will do that later |
